The Big Freeze was delighted to return to the Jeep on the Rocks Summer Concert Series for the 4th year, to rock with AJR and Cold War Kids on top of the incredible rock structures of Red Rock Park and Amphitheatre. We brought to the show an entirely new multi-camera system, on a slick low-trussed curve. Yielding a unique view, we captured all of the magnificent detail of the natural wonder surrounding us along with some very animated guests! The hero, an exciting new Jeep Gladiator, was positioned within the rocks to become a masterful centerpiece, the perfect backdrop for the energetic crowd of fans. We crafted this photo array to enable multiple people to get their chance in the spotlight, grabbing their friends to jump, twirl and leap frog pose in front of The Big Freeze cameras. With magnificent weather, great music and Colorado vibes, all stars aligned for guests to have fun and share the client’s branded frozen moments of the evening! The natural beauty of the location juxtaposed with the interesting lines of Jeep’s latest innovation, provided the ultimate backdrop for our next-level guest experience.
Sometimes the smallest things have the biggest impact, and that is certainly true for The Big Freeze outfit we created for the 22nd Annual Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats & Eats festival in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan. A juried fine arts exhibition, innovative and fine cuisine from local restaurateurs, and 200 musical performances on 9 stages create the ultimate Labor Day weekend destination and attract over 330,000 visitors. A massive crowd and extensive entertainment means space is scarce, but The Big Freeze knows how to deliver the impact while only occupying a small area.
We accompanied the highly anticipated JEEP® M-715 Five Quarter Concept vehicle in the event space, and captured guests in 180-degrees of celebration. We engineered an 8-camera array that delivered the same epic punch as a much larger system with a mere 8’x6’ footprint. Guests were then able to receive their lively captures instantly with our convenient, user-friendly social sharing capabilities. We were able to capture the magic of art, fine cuisine, music and community in each guest effect, as well as showcase the always trailblazing Jeep. No matter the size or space limitations, The Big Freeze systems can always answer activation demands, consistently delivering fun, engaging experiences for all!
The Big Freeze joined the 27th ESPN ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) red carpet to celebrate all of this year’s shining stars in sports!
This year’s red carpet called for vision and innovation, and The Big Freeze delivered with FreezeBOT, our multi-action high-speed capturing robotic camera system. FreezeBOT, with a radius of 7 feet and standing at 8.5 feet tall, offers state-of-the-art 6-axis robotic video capture technology. Custom programming creates FreezeBOT choreography to high-speed capture 240 frames per second, which allows for the dramatic slow motion video effects. Never tiring, our FreezeBOT captured over 200 amazing athletes who walked into our stage to show us their best moves. The NHL’s Blues to Rob Gronkowski, genius footwork to golf swings, all were captured at high-speed and turned into stunning slow motion video effects, which were then sent straight to broadcast and the guest.
To deliver the effects, we handed each celeb a beautifully designed and branded QR card to scan with their mobile device, which would then immediately display their custom capture. Capital One, the sponsor of our ESPY red carpet FreezeBOT, was thrilled with the instantly shareable and branded asset. And share they did! Captures were shared across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more, with some videos garnishing over 800,000 views apiece.
There may be lots of bots, but there is only one FreezeBOT and it ruled the red carpet! With an event-friendly design, using only house power and small footprint, and programmable with any imaginable move, freezeBOT packs an epic punch.

The interior of the booth was finished with crisp and vivid Capital One branding in 360-degrees, ensuring that our clients’ design could be seen boldly from any and all angles. The exterior of The Freeze donned large, high-def viewing screens to enable each guest to immediately view their capture upon exit. The interior flooring resembled a basketball court to let guests live out their fantasies of a final four game-day dunk, as The Big Freeze’s amazing technology froze the motion at the peak of their expression. As players and fans alike piled into our system, we created image after image in stunning HD to be enjoyed long after the trophy was lifted and the confetti dropped.
A Nielsen cross-platform study states that over 175 million fans engage with the tournament across all networks and platforms, so we jumped right in the action by including a fun hashtag in all branding images, #fangoals, as well as gave fans immediate, user-friendly access to their unique captures to be shared around the world.

The Big Freeze packed our bags for the West Coast to celebrate the College Football Playoff National Championship LXXXI. Located in sunny San Jose, California, the championship was the culminating game of a riveting college football season. To say the event is highly anticipated by fans is a gross understatement, as it had almost 75,000 in attendance and a whopping 25.28 million viewers worldwide. The game itself made a touchdown in history, as the South Carolina Clemson Tigers defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide, giving them the title of first champs with an undefeated 15-0 record in college football since 1897. Another highly anticipated event surrounding the game? Playoff Fan Central, an incredible 3-day, 200,000 square feet interactive experience, boasting special guest appearances, autograph signings, exhibits, games and of course, an epic Big Freeze camera system.
With vibrant yard-lines surrounding the interior to give guests a sense of the field action, The Big Freeze custom array was 10ft in diameter and was constructed to accommodate 24 cameras. Alabama alum and New York Giants safety Landon Collins and college football’s most knowledgeable and entertaining analyst Lee Corso were among the football royalty to make their mark on the Big Freeze gallery. The American sports broadcaster made headlines after successfully predicting the outcome of the season, and he celebrated Big Freeze style by letting us capture his excitement in stunning, 360-degree frozen motion. Touchdown for the Big Freeze!
The Big Freeze was honored to join the annual Jeep On the Rocks summer concert series for the second year in a row at one of the most magical locations on the planet, Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Perhaps the most beautiful concert venue in the world, and once listed as a Seven Wonder, Red Rocks has hosted music’s most renowned acts, including The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and U2, and now The Big Freeze can be a part of that long list of music royalty. The frigid Colorado cold and snow could not stop the crowds from coming out in droves to partake in the festivities. Bands Walk the Moon and Fitz and the Tantrums brought the house down with their energetic and effervescent entertainment, and the rollicking good time continued for concert fans as they made their way to The Big Freeze. We created a 180-degreee, 27-foot curved array, with 48 cameras positioned on a ramp angled to capture all of the magnificent detail of the natural wonder surrounding us. The backdrop was a statuesque white Jeep Wrangler, the hero of the shot, adorned with special lighting to highlight every angle and positioned to jut out against a backdrop of dramatic, towering, red sandstone rocks. We saw flips, jumps, partner choreography, epic high fives and more as friends piled in to snag their frozen moment souvenir from a night they won’t soon forget. Even band members from Walk the Moon couldn’t resist the opportunity to work it for the cameras! As fast as the sweet sounds of music travelled throughout the acoustically perfect amphitheater, visitor captures travelled to the corners of the world with our easily accessible and instant social sharing options. Page views from the event are over 18,000 and rising, and fans are still sharing their Big Freeze experience with their favorite social media platforms, with over 600 shares and counting, helping us affirm the majesty of the event. All was quiet at 1:00 am as we drove down the mountain, but The Big Freeze gallery tells the true tale of a rowdy night of regalement.
Eeeeeatscon is the ultimate foodie destination, and The Big Freeze came in for a slice of the pie! Structured like a music festival but with the hottest restaurants from New York and beyond taking center stage, Eeeeeatscon showcases some of the biggest names in food and drink. The food festival was held in the famous former tennis stadium turned music venue, Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York, which has hosted acts such as The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross and Jimi Hendrix. The festival also brings in motivational speakers, musical acts and entertainment to take the event to the next level, and The Big Freeze was ready for the action.
We created a custom truss, low to the ground and equipped with 36 DSLR cameras, which resulted in the perfect 180-degree shot. The background was a display of giant letters spelling Eeeeeatscon and the perfect October New York weather. The Big Freeze was there for the duration of the festival, and we captured hundreds of boisterous Eeeeeatscon festivalgoers who were eager to share their unique frozen moment.
If there is one thing we love at The Big Freeze, it is collaborating to bring our latest technology to showcase incredible innovations, such as the revolutionary new all-electric Jaguar I-PACE. The Big Freeze joined the newest addition to the family of world-class performance vehicles at the San Mateo County Event Center to celebrate the I-PACE collection and their Fall debut. In order to show off every facet of the remarkable new I-PACE, we installed 40 cameras in a staggered 180-degree formation, giving a sweep of height to each capture. The vehicle was front-and-center and encircled by panels of mirrors to give a distinctive depth and a feeling of grandeur to each frozen moment. Neon lights brought The Big Freeze set to the next level and emphasized the #JaguarElectrifies branding. The Big Freeze had the guests feeling infinite, and our straightforward and effortless social media sharing options ensured that they shared their unique experience, and the savvy Jaguar branding, to followers far and wide. Stay tuned as we take this show on the road, and join Jaguar in November for another upcoming Jaguar Electrifies event in Miami.
The Big Freeze took a trip to the Golden State to capture the magic of the new Disney’s Freaky Friday. Based on the novel Freaky Friday by Mary Rogers as well as Disney’s stage adaptation, the modern musical tells the tale of a magical soul-switch between mother and daughter. Each has to life a day in the life of the other, and the radically different lifestyle choices make for some entertaining hijinks. Disney revamped the film, making it the third film adaptation following the hit 1976 and 2003 versions.
The Big Freeze brought our own magic to the set to create promotional video spots for the film’s debut. Using a green screen, The Big Freeze captured the film’s main talent in a 60-camera array, and then composited each actor into exciting scenes coordinating with the themes of the film. Stars of the film, Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Heidi Blickenstaff, and Jason Maybaum leapt, spun and posed in high action shots, which were expertly captured, frozen, manipulated and combined with celestial-like effects to exhibit and tease to audiences the essence and magic of the film. The effects were edited into playful promo videos to be aired on The Disney Channel to excite viewers and count down the last 12 days leading up to the release of the highly anticipated film. There was nothing freaky about the innovative video result, except perhaps how freaking cool it is!

The Daytona 500 is the first and most prestigious race of the NASCAR season, and Media Day is a chance for the media and fans to rub elbows with NASCAR racers and A-listers before the big race. Sponsored by NASCAR, we created a 9-foot, 24-camera array, outfitted with confetti galore and classic black and white checkered racetrack flags, all of which was front and center in the infield VIP lounge of the Daytona International Speedway. We kept the energy high and the confetti in the sky as we captured the infectious enthusiasm of major professional NASCAR drivers such as Danica Patrick, Clint Bowyer and the Daytona 500 winner Austin Dillon. “We’ve had our eye on the 360 cam technology for a few years and decided the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Awards in Las Vegas was the time to make it happen. We were introduced to Big Freeze less than three weeks before our event and they made magic happen. Patrice, Robert and the entire Big Freeze team were terrific to work with. We utilized the system twofold – – both as an extension of the Red Carpet prior to the Monster Energy Series Awards and then post awards as the Monster Energy Series Awards post party. Red Carpet wise, we integrated our Digital and Social teams to distribute the unique and glamorous content externally while also showcasing the content inside the venue. At the post party, the 360 cam was a massive hit and took the guest experience to another level. There was a non-stop line all night and countless smiles and memories made. Since the awards last fall, we’ve utilized the Big Freeze at Daytona 500 Media Day and have plans for an encore appearance later this year at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Awards.” - Cory Posocco, Vice President, NASCAR Events

One of the most anticipated seasons of fashion, New York Fashion Week is a world-famous institution in the kingdom of couture. Celebrities, designers, fashionistas and socialites flock to New York City to catch as many events as they can, which are trickled far and wide across the city. Legendary fashion icon Tommy Hilfiger debuted his newest collaboration, Tommy x Gigi, alongside supermodel Gigi Hadid with runway shows as well as with an innovative fashion pop-up. Located within The Oculus, a shopping destination in The World Trade Center and an architectural vision, the TOMMYLAND pop-up was erected in the center of the action, and would not have been complete without a custom-designed and built Big Freeze 360° camera array system.
The system was a 12-foot, 24-camera array, with full walls surrounding the action. The walls were splashed with graphics of a vibrant West coast sunset inside, and the spellbinding Gigi Hadid on the outside. The booth graphics and props mirrored the dreamy Americana vibes of the fashion line, creating a cohesive experience deep in the heart of the collaboration’s vision. Four eye-candy monitors encircled the array, showing footage from Hilfiger fashion shows, and further immersing the visitors in the brand’s culture and aesthetic. Fans were delighted to enter the system in curiosity, and leave with a one-of-a-kind image from their very own Tiny World. As guests danced, hopped and twirled in the array, our innovative 3D composited world was being digitally inserted into their effects, all in live time. Visitors were tickled to check out their 360°s, captivated by their personalized image within a 3D graphic model of downtown Houston, with the one and only Memorial Hermann as the visual spotlight. The custom fish-eye viewpoint gives a fascinating twist on the typical 360° frozen motion effect. While the Houston skyline was a huge hit in the Super Bowl fan village, with over 47,000 page views, Big Freeze Tiny World is entirely customizable based on the desires of each individual client. Tiny World may be tiny, but it certainly packs a Big Freeze punch.
The Big Freeze is proud to welcome AXIS to our prolific lineup of custom camera array systems. Launched at the acclaimed CES 2017, AXIS served as an epic attraction for over 165,000 attendees and thousands of exhibitors for the week of January 5-8. We partnered with Nikon for the event to showcase the boundless capabilities of the incredible new AXIS.
While AXIS is proficient at the virtual camera capabilities performed by the single-array Big Freeze systems, the newest array’s intelligence travels above and beyond. AXIS uses 3 tiers of cameras, with camera counts ranging from 72 to 144 cameras, to capture 3 unique points-of-view for each individual snap. This technology allows for trailblazing interactive features, as each guest is able to swipe up, down and all around as they view their images on their smart device, showing a frame-accurate rotation from any of the POV captures.
Social media has echoed the CES excitement, with nearly 60,000 page views and over 5,000 individual shares and counting, the buzz spreads far and wide beyond the convention as guests continue to enjoy our fast, effortless and straightforward social media sharing features.
Lights, Camera… Action! The Big Freeze teamed up with Kia Motors to deliver an avant-garde and imaginative film noir-inspired set to debut the new Kia Cadenza and celebrate The New York Times Magazine L.A. Noir themed Great Performers issue. The innovative experience was constructed to surround each guest and viewer with an Old Hollywood style movie set. Our custom-built, 3-section system was equipped with twelve cameras and designed with a Big Freeze Virtual Camera setting which composed a charming, period-inspired stop motion effect. The set was engineered at a lower height to enable a capture right in the thick of the action, adding to the film noir grandeur of the event. 1940’s-inspired costuming and props were available to the stars of the scene to ensure their seamless coordination within the unique vintage experience. A marquee mounted within the set broadcasted each guest’s name with a movie-like flair as they posed and preened, assuring that every visitor experienced their due bask in the limelight. Our quick and user-friendly social sharing accessibility allowed for event-goers to instantly share their experience far and wide across the social media universe. L.A. Noir glamour and magic abound, this set has settled that vintage is a great look for The Big Freeze.
The Big Freeze was honored to join Jeep and Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater to celebrate 75 years of Jeep and Red Rocks. One of the most beautiful concert venues in the world, and once listed as a Seven Wonder, Red Rocks has hosted music’s most renowned acts, including The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and U2, and now The Big Freeze can be a part of that long list of music royalty. Bands Bastille and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness drew an excited and effervescent crowd as we celebrated the summer concert series. We created an epic 48-camera, 180-degree, 20-foot diameter array, positioned on a ramp angle from 8-feet to 2-feet to capture all of the magnificent detail of the natural wonder surrounding us. Guests bounced and flipped alongside a rugged white 75th Anniversary edition Jeep Wrangler jutting out against a backdrop of dramatic, towering, red sandstone rocks. As fast as the sweet sounds of music travelled throughout the acoustically perfect amphitheater, visitor captures travelled to the corners of the world with our easily accessible and instant social sharing options. Page views from the event are over 5,000 and counting, and fans are still sharing their Big Freeze experience with their favorite social media platforms, helping us affirm the majesty of the event.
AT&T has opened its largest retail store to date, at 1 Powell Street in San Francisco, California, and The Big Freeze was thrilled to be in the center of the action for the opening celebration. With 24,000 square feet of retail space, the new West Coast flagship location is the ultimate juxtaposition, as it resides inside the bones of one of San Francisco’s oldest buildings, yet is filled with a glimpse of the future in tech and the ever-growing interconnected world. Custom links were generated immediately to allow guests to share their unique image on their favorite social media platforms, and share they did, helping to demonstrate the success of the event.
One of the most historic and significant cultural events in recent memory, the Grand Opening Weekend of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) was a joyous event not to be missed. We were deeply honored to team up with Target to be a prominent attraction for the Dedication Ceremony through the Freedom Sounds Festival, nestled right in the action as President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush sang the significance of the momentous occasion. Such an epic event can only draw an epic crowd, so we custom-designed and built two 10-foot 360° systems, each housing a whopping 24 Big Freeze cameras, running simultaneously to meet the appeal of the celebration. Attendees were all smiles, bursting with pride and infectious energy, and our one-of-a-kind technology captured the brilliant vibrancy of each unique guest in stunning frozen motion. Visitor captures are made immediately accessible, allowing for instant social sharing across all major platforms, a feature taken full advantage of by guests as we reach 60K shares and counting. Truly an event for the books, we are beyond proud to be making history with the NMAAHC!
From August 17-20th, we packed our bags and headed overseas to Cologne, Germany for the incredible Blizzard Gamescom! With over 345,000 attendees, more than 6,000 journalists, and 700 exhibitors, Gamescom is the world’s largest gaming event, in which video game developers reveal upcoming games and fresh gaming content. The most notable attraction, however, is arguably the larger-than-life and beyond-the-imagination costumes, coined with the term cosplay, which Gamescom attendees display at the convention. The cosplay is best akin to performance art, and what better way to exhibit every inch of each character than with a custom Big Freeze array? Our 12-foot system, equipped with 24 Big Freeze cameras, was the perfect creation to host the cosplay-clad Gamescom attendees, showing every divet, every brush stroke, and every contour. Visitors were captured in striking 360-degree frozen motion, preserving the energy and magic of each unique guest. As attendee after attendee left our booth, they were provided with access to their custom content, enabling instant sharing across the 88 countries represented by the event-goers, and perhaps then some. Social sharing analytics reflect over 139,000 shares of these unique effects! The indescribable efforts and artistry of each cosplay designer and Gamescom fan are best depicted by the awe-inspiring 360-degree videos and images of The Big Freeze system, which truly encapsulates the electricity and eccentricity of the event.
The Big Freeze hooked up with Momemtum Worldwide to bring an unparalleled attraction, to the amazingly high-tech Panorama music festival in New York City. With a stellar lineup boasting such names as Arcade Fire, Sia and LCD Soundsystem, the 3-day event drew incredible crowds of some of the most connected, wired and tech-forward concert-goers imaginable. Sexy, sophisticated and sultry, The Big Freeze’s newest collaboration with the legendary ESPN does not fail to deliver. We designed and built a custom, 3-tiered camera array, equipped with 72 Nikon D750 cameras utilizing a variety of Nikkor lenses. Over the course of two days, we captured incredible shots using inventive lighting and controlled timing for various special effects to deliver frozen motion images that are so multi-dimensional, the viewer is tempted to reach out and touch. The BODY360 was debuted in the highly-anticipated ESPN Body Issue, and displayed a visually stunning gallery of two of today’s most accomplished athletes, Emma Coburn and Von Miller, stripped down to the bare essentials. Coburn, a track and field Olympic athlete and the fastest American in history in the 3000-meter Steeplechase, leaps and bounds with smoke at her back, allowing audiences to actually visualize her sheer force and strength. NFL outside linebacker and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller is a brilliant study in musculature, with a dramatic backdrop and lighting arrangement emphasizing his every definition. The gallery of images is displayed with interactive elements, allowing visitors to click and drag the athletes for a fully-controllable 360° view, as well as features that allow for zoom and a unique look from both above and below. Our innovative technology was the perfect complement to this amazing project of visionaries.
The Big Freeze has teamed up with the illustrious Nike to premier the latest attraction in footwear, the Nike Zoom KD9. Responsive, natural, and light as air, the innovative shoe embodies the best characteristics of its muse, NBA MVP and Olympic Gold medalist Kevin Durant. Following suit, The Big Freeze set out to create a custom system with similar qualities, and the laudable result was showcased at the Nike Zoom KD9 premier at Niketown in New York City. Our 9-foot array displayed 24 cameras, ingeniously mounted to the bottom of the system and then directed upward in order to capture the real heroes of the shot, the SHOES!
We emphasized a strobe effect with ceiling-high, solid black draping, which produced highly dramatic frozen-motion images for the premier attendees. Our easy and accessible social media sharing options were taken to the next level as the frozen moments were broadcasted through a social digital billboard on 34th and 6th street in the heart of Manhattan. The stunning captures were fed live to the large vertical billboard, virtually stopping time, and attracting an entirely new market of viewers and passive participants in the truly one-ofa-kind Big Freeze experience.

Engaging props were provided for the guests of the system, including trampolines, giant topical hand signs, floaties and more, to ensure that each visitor could customize their interplay, creating a one-of-a-kind interactive system experience. Custom hashtags and an online gallery made guest images easily accessible, allowing for immediate, widespread social sharing by participants and race sponsors who were eager to share their race-day memories. This fun, unique system proved to be a wonderful compliment to the participants’ incredible job well done!

35+ MPH winds? Visibility of less than ¼ of a mile? Freezing cold temperatures? It will take more than strong winds, extreme temperatures and viciously low wind chill to keep Big Freeze from the epic experience of our system teamed up with Jeep X Games. A sensational purple Jeep Wrangler, jutting out from a crisp and stunning snow sculpture, proved to be the perfect backdrop for our 48-‐camera array and custom-‐built curved rig. High atop Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, Jeep and Big Freeze cultivated the ultimate fan experience, just legendary enough for Jeep X Games Aspen. Blizzard conditions tested the strength of our camera system, but the extreme weather only helped us capture the luminosity of nature in its most animate state. The results were breathtaking frozen motion captures, shared by fans instantaneously all around the globe.
CES rolled out major updates for our Big Freeze 360 camera, showcased within the Nikon booth. The previous year was a huge success, with thousands of CES attendees taking their Nikon360Project frozen moment with our 48-camera slanted setup. This innovative system offered frozen moments, virtual captures, and a new hologram action for our thousands of delighted booth visitors. CES-goers were able to experience their unique 360 experience in a whole new way.
In addition to the thousands of captures we produced, Big Freeze also provided a new generation of RFID registration. Here, they could see all of their 360s on one page, simultaneously offering instant and easy access to sharing on their various social media platforms.
CES just begs the question… What will Nikon and Big Freeze do next?!
Blizzcam 360 was back at the Blizzcon Convention in Anaheim. Returning Blizzcon attendees came prepared for their 360! Nothing screams summer louder than a frozen motion explosion of an ice cold Jumex! That is why our collaboration with the Mexican beverage company produced brilliant captures of their newest drink, bursting its way through a boisterous pool party. Our custom rig was designed and built with 40 cameras on an arc suspended over the water, grabbing 3D frozen motion views from all corners of the celebration. Frisbee catchers were being paused mid-air, while canon-balls, splashes and dives were caught in perfectly timed frozen motion. Certainly revolutionary in its execution, our custom array was able to stop time and embody the effervescence of both Jumex and some good ol’ fashioned fun in the sun. ¡Que Rico!
It is the most-travelled championship trophy in the world and The Big Freeze was there fluently capturing powered flight around the cup on a sheet of ice! Among the traditions (or rather superstitions) that are prevalent among today’s NHL players, is that no player should touch the Cup itself until his team has rightfully won the Cup. We brought this legend to the screen, capturing desire for the cup, in frozen action around it! Our technology renders the power and curvature of these magnificent athletes into ballerina grace around the much sought after Stanley Cup before the finals. After many successful NHL shoots, we have become skillful artisans, using our Big Freeze cameras and computers on the ice. Monitoring moisture and frigid temperatures, selecting the correct lens and frames, Big Freeze captures that perfect special effect to share with Hockey Fans worldwide.
Player, Puck, Stick, Skates, The Cup… The Big Freeze!
Redefining American style, Ralph Lauren has always stood for providing quality products. We had model content, future fashion and the creative art direction to capture high resolution imagery that makes shopping feel like one is viewing a remarkable art exhibit. From the array on the floor, with 60 Big Freeze cameras on an arc, proportion was orchestrated. As with Architecture, It is the visual effect of the relationships of the various objects and spaces captured, that make up a one and only composition. It is this unique special effect style that The Big Freeze captured on this uncommon fashion shoot to contribute to the whole of online interactive visual imagery…

On a gray, rainy day in Austin, 72 Big Freeze cameras are set on an arc, and low on the Race Track. It’s a dramatic, captured effect, ramping down the speed of spinning tires and disclosing clouds of rain, hanging frozen in time.
Nissan’s newest Race car, the GT-R LM NIZMO LM P1 was the hero of this production. When this race car accelerates, the engine transfers force to the tires, pushing backward against the track. When track and tire force push against each other, the lighter object moves faster and faster.
To slow it down, Big Freeze used it’s unique techniques and advanced software technology to capture Newton’s Laws of Motion on this Formula 1 track. Time flies when you are having fun!

Canada’s finest deserve the best. So when we were shipped off to Toronto to photograph top athletes from Canada’s Olympic Team we knew we were in for something big. CBC (Canada Broadcasting Corporation) came to us with a vision to inspire viewers and rally Canadians for the amazing talent they were bringing to the coming Olympic Games. So we created a powerful stage to instill Canadian pride for these exceptional sportsmen (and women). We suspended huge light rigs from above, rigged up a dark enclosed backdrop and lowered our cameras to the floor to convey the incredible power and stature that comes with being a world-class athlete. Additionally we employed virtual camera and frozen motion as we dropped snow while they waved flags and posed triumphantly. The result was a dramatic, statuesque delivery of Canada’s most athletic, inspiring for both Canadian and Non-Canadian alike.

All this and of course our own High-Tech Big Freeze Array to top off what turned out to be a truly incredible holiday party.

Hyundai’s new line of hatchback:the PYL is all about standing out. With vivid and unique colors, loud and powerful speakers, and a unique body design Hyundai strives for a clientele that strives to be different. So when Hyundai decided they wanted to create a commercial as unique as their PYL they reached out to us.
For our expertise, Hyundai asked us to create high-energy ‘Virtual Dolly’ and ‘Frozen Motion’ set-ups to be stitched in to a final high-energy commercial to really capture the stunning range of color and personality in their latest line of PYL model hatchback.
Needless to say capturing a moving car amongst falling raindrops in perfect clarity is no easy task. Thankfully we were fortunate enough to work with a solid team that understands the importance of meticulous planning. We drew out every shot, measured out every detail and prepared during frequent tech scouts to ensure we would be completely ready for the incredible challenge ahead of us.
Our set was on a windy coastal road wrapped around Point Loma in San Diego, CA. It was a beautiful view and a dream location but just like any other shoot, we faced our share of problems. Last minute changes are bound to happen and sudden heat waves always catch you off guard, but as always we took to the occasion and accomplished something amazing. Just like a Hyundai we love to stand out and we perform best when we are driven.
Famous Footwear is about making a statement; it’s about having the freedom to be a dancer, a performer, and a student all at once. So when one of the most dynamic shoe companies in the world wanted to capture the excitement of youth with equally exciting and high-energy footage, we jumped at the assignment.
The goal of their Back-to school spot (Called ‘Make Today Famous,’) was to show kids that no matter how incredible their lifestyle is, “we’ve got shoes to keep up”. So we set out to find incredible performers in music, dance, cheerleading, and BMX to show off and then captured amazing moments at the peak of their performances. The final product was a gripping TV spot full of powerful virtual camera moves, electrifying frozen leaps, water spouts and cascading playing cards, all with the effort of making every moment as exciting, unique, and enjoyable as a Famous Footwear experience.

E! Entertainment and their infamous Red Carpet Shows have really been a cherished relationship for us at The Big Freeze. For years we’ve branded the 20’ Big Freeze array as the “Glam Cam 360” on the red carpet to shoot beautiful Hollywood celebrities posing in their finest.
Since 2009 we’ve set up directly on the red carpet to eventually shoot hundreds of Hollywood’s most glamorous over these incredible years. During the show we feed instant files for live broadcast and simultaneously build an online gallery of 360 images for E! Online. The result is an exciting compilation of celebrities in perfect form and perfect clarity.
Our yearly visit to this award show, along with the Grammys and Golden Globe Awards, is it’s own reward. We’re looking forward to many more years attending this show and being a continuing part of LA’s most glamorous celebrations.
But don’t ask us: check out testimony of how our guests feel about the illustrious GlamCam360!
Dance is one of the most powerful art forms out there. So when Visionary director Ryan Enn Hughes from Canada approached us with a unique idea to employ a 48-camera array to capture premier ballet dancers and incredible Krump style dancers in frozen 360 we couldn’t resist. So we gleefully shipped off to Toronto Canada to begin work on what is now called ‘The 360 Project.’
We called on performers from Canada’s exceptional National Ballet School and on members of the incredible Northbuck Krump for some of the most talented dancers in their fields and then assembled 4 large walls of black velvet and shot with synchronized overhead photographic strobe lights for a uniquely dramatic tone and strikingly vivid colors. This added an elegant touch to the final product and highlighted the power that comes with seeing every angle of a dancer frozen in time.
The result was two videos (1 for each style of dance) cut to music and sound effects from the very talented Zelig Sound to create a heart pumping portrait of performers vanishing and appearing like souls on a turntable. The project has since been awarded the title of Vimeo Staff Pick and has found a very proud home in our reel.
Xerox has always been a powerful name in imaging and technology. So when we were approached to take part in a series of promotions with the powerhouse print company, the only question we had was why hadn’t we done this before?
On our first leg of the Xerox tour, we took to Toronto to invite attendees and athletes of The Rogers Cup to jump around and enjoy our Big Freeze experience. It was a huge project with tons of friendly and exciting faces including Francesca Schiavone, who went on to take second place!
After that we set off for Rochester New York where every year in June the streets erupt in the soulful energy of Jazz and improvised celebration for the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. We photographed many wonderful jazz guests as they enjoyed props and instruments inspired by the festival itself. It was an incredible 10 day event and a fantastic opportunity to show off what innovators in image technology can do when they put their heads together.
When we got an offer to come shoot in Canada with Toyota we had no idea the scale they were dreaming this project to be. It was truly something we had ‘never seen before’.
What they had in mind for this commercial was the grandest scale of camerawork the industry had available. This spot was all about ‘seeing’; from remote controlled race-cars to helicopters, parachutes, high speed rail cameras and even a GoPro mounted turtle, Toyota pulled all the stops on this production and in the end we collaborated to create an amazing commercial full of all the incredible behind the scenes filmmaking and technologies most people don’t normally get to see.
For our end of it we erected a rain tower and a horizontal line of Freeze cameras and created a frozen track shot as this incredible car burst through halted raindrops. See it for yourself, and ask yourself if you’ve ever seen anything quite like it before.
Fox is continually upping the adrenaline of sports television. So when they decided to push it in the most Hi-octane sport there is, they reached out to us to help shoot promo material for the upcoming NASCAR season. So how do you make NASCAR more exciting?
Try over 40 of the worlds fastest men and women at 240 high def frames a second on 96 cameras. Add some of the most beautiful women in entertainment, bottles upon bottles of champagne, and some of the most incredible usage of virtual cameras we’ve employed to date and you get one incredible ride.
E, as it’s name implies, is entertainment, and over the years as the GlamCam 360, we’ve really enjoyed entertaining the celebrities. And so, for E!’s upfront party, we leapt at the opportunity to bring the Hollywood red carpet lifestyle out to Manhattan.
We arrived in New York for a one day shoot at the mesmerizing Manhattan Center.
E’s intent with this party was to attract interest in their upcoming lineup of shows and media and we came along to bring some energy. And although we did see some very exciting faces (Such as Kim Kardashian, Kevin Jonas, and members of the band The Wanted) we were really there to make this one-of-a-kind celebrity experience available to fans who normally don’t get to be in front of the GlamCam.
This meant a very different type of experience from our normal red carpet set-up. More props, hops, twirls and spins; overall less a formal award show gathering and a more an exciting experience for everyone who stopped by.
The result was a very entertaining evening for the guests and new incentive and mobility for E! and their coming line-up of shows.
The Kids Choice Awards is not a typical award show. With guests like Adam Sandler, Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock and Katy Perry present, it’s got all the excitement of a Red Carpet affair, but with the energy and heartful humor of youth. That said when Nickelodeon came to us with the idea to take their infamous ‘Sliming’ where they dump buckets of green slime on people (Always gives the kids a giggle) to the next level we had no idea what to expect. But needless to say: we were happy to oblige.
We assembled our 48 camera rig and sailed the entire array to the ceiling and then tucked our entire crew into the catwalk above the stage. Then we mounted the array on a raising and lowering apparatus to grab stunning 360’s from the audience and the actors getting completely doused in slimey hilarious muck.
And after all it turned out that watching America’s most glamorous being showered in ooze in pristine 360 was just as exciting for us as it was for the millions of screaming fans watching. The images came out amazing and the reactions were priceless, which got us thinking: maybe we’ll have to give this slime thing a try on our own shoots in the future.
When your drafting for the most incredible athletes in the world, the devil’s in the details. In the hyper-competitive selection process, the goal is drafting a player that’s close to flawless. The last thing this industry needs is to miss out on a star because they didn’t have access to the most thorough and picturesque photographic imaging equipment available.
For our friends coordinating the NBA draft we set up at the JW Marriot in Chicago to develop the most comprehensive, advanced, and just honestly cool Draft Player Statistics System developed to date, aptly titled: Playermetrics.
For it we took captures from head to two of NCAA’s finest to offer thorough coverage of each player’s powerful physique and form to deliver an incredibly futuristic way to compare these players. Using both virtual motion to showcase their incredible athletic talents, and pure captures to offer a clean portrait of the athletes physique and stature, The Big Freeze and The NBA Draft collaborated to create the most detailed and otherwise divine presentation of the NBA to date.
During South by Southwest Fest (SXSW) it’s hard to stand out. 3 weeks of music, movies, and shows all stocked to the top with free food and drinks and spread across the incredible city of Austin, Texas makes even the most exciting events look dull. Macallan, the cut-loose drink of business class, solved that problem by renting a boat, packing it full of Macallan’s finest single malt whiskies, and hiring us to capture it all.
Macallan called us out to Austin to excite a crowd of young energetic tech and artist visitors and to show them the incredible levels you can push photography to when you use your imagination.
Thankfully we grew our sea legs pretty quickly because for 5 days we trolled up and down Lady Bird Lake shooting day and night. We ended up with some very exciting photos and left some very happy SXSW guests. Between Macallan and The Big Freeze Worldwide it was clear we left an impression at SXSW our guests would never forget.
