Jeep + Arts Eats & Beats
Sometimes the smallest things have the biggest impact, and that is certainly true for The Big Freeze outfit we created for the 22nd Annual Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats & Eats festival in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan. A juried fine arts exhibition, innovative and fine cuisine from local restaurateurs, and 200 musical performances on 9 stages create the ultimate Labor Day weekend destination and attract over 330,000 visitors. A massive crowd and extensive entertainment means space is scarce, but The Big Freeze knows how to deliver the impact while only occupying a small area.
We accompanied the highly anticipated JEEP® M-715 Five Quarter Concept vehicle in the event space, and captured guests in 180-degrees of celebration. We engineered an 8-camera array that delivered the same epic punch as a much larger system with a mere 8’x6’ footprint. Guests were then able to receive their lively captures instantly with our convenient, user-friendly social sharing capabilities. We were able to capture the magic of art, fine cuisine, music and community in each guest effect, as well as showcase the always trailblazing Jeep. No matter the size or space limitations, The Big Freeze systems can always answer activation demands, consistently delivering fun, engaging experiences for all!

To say the event is highly anticipated by fans is a gross understatement, as it had almost 75,000 in attendance and a whopping 25.28 million viewers worldwide. The game itself made a touchdown in history, as the South Carolina Clemson Tigers defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide, giving them the title of first champs with an undefeated 15-0 record in college football since 1897. Jeep on the Rocks - III
The Big Freeze was honored to join the annual Jeep On the Rocks summer concert series for the second year in a row at one of the most magical locations on the planet, Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Perhaps the most beautiful concert venue in the world, and once listed as a Seven Wonder, Red Rocks has hosted music’s most renowned acts, including The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and U2, and now The Big Freeze can be a part of that long list of music royalty. The frigid Colorado cold and snow could not stop the crowds from coming out in droves to partake in the festivities. Bands Walk the Moon and Fitz and the Tantrums brought the house down with their energetic and effervescent entertainment, and the rollicking good time continued for concert fans as they made their way to The Big Freeze. We created a 180-degreee, 27-foot curved array, with 48 cameras positioned on a ramp angled to capture all of the magnificent detail of the natural wonder surrounding us. The backdrop was a statuesque white Jeep Wrangler, the hero of the shot, adorned with special lighting to highlight every angle and positioned to jut out against a backdrop of dramatic, towering, red sandstone rocks. We saw flips, jumps, partner choreography, epic high fives and more as friends piled in to snag their frozen moment souvenir from a night they won’t soon forget. Even band members from Walk the Moon couldn’t resist the opportunity to work it for the cameras! As fast as the sweet sounds of music travelled throughout the acoustically perfect amphitheater, visitor captures travelled to the corners of the world with our easily accessible and instant social sharing options. Page views from the event are over 18,000 and rising, and fans are still sharing their Big Freeze experience with their favorite social media platforms, with over 600 shares and counting, helping us affirm the majesty of the event. All was quiet at 1:00 am as we drove down the mountain, but The Big Freeze gallery tells the true tale of a rowdy night of regalement.

Eeeeeatscon
Eeeeeatscon is the ultimate foodie destination, and The Big Freeze came in for a slice of the pie! Structured like a music festival but with the hottest restaurants from New York and beyond taking center stage, Eeeeeatscon showcases some of the biggest names in food and drink. The food festival was held in the famous former tennis stadium turned music venue, Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York, which has hosted acts such as The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross and Jimi Hendrix. The festival also brings in motivational speakers, musical acts and entertainment to take the event to the next level, and The Big Freeze was ready for the action.
We created a custom truss, low to the ground and equipped with 36 DSLR cameras, which resulted in the perfect 180-degree shot. The background was a display of giant letters spelling Eeeeeatscon and the perfect October New York weather. The Big Freeze was there for the duration of the festival, and we captured hundreds of boisterous Eeeeeatscon festivalgoers who were eager to share their unique frozen moment.

Freaky Friday
The Big Freeze took a trip to the Golden State to capture the magic of the new Disney’s Freaky Friday. Based on the novel Freaky Friday by Mary Rogers as well as Disney’s stage adaptation, the modern musical tells the tale of a magical soul-switch between mother and daughter. Each has to life a day in the life of the other, and the radically different lifestyle choices make for some entertaining hijinks. Disney revamped the film, making it the third film adaptation following the hit 1976 and 2003 versions.
The Big Freeze brought our own magic to the set to create promotional video spots for the film’s debut. Using a green screen, The Big Freeze captured the film’s main talent in a 60-camera array, and then composited each actor into exciting scenes coordinating with the themes of the film. Stars of the film, Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Heidi Blickenstaff, and Jason Maybaum leapt, spun and posed in high action shots, which were expertly captured, frozen, manipulated and combined with celestial-like effects to exhibit and tease to audiences the essence and magic of the film. The effects were edited into playful promo videos to be aired on The Disney Channel to excite viewers and count down the last 12 days leading up to the release of the highly anticipated film. There was nothing freaky about the innovative video result, except perhaps how freaking cool it is!

A wide array of sports injuries were highlighted to showcase the impressive range of possible treatment plans made available by the therapy destination. The Big Freeze captured the effects in striking high definition, and then edited in the informative metrics to create an impressive video reel to be played in the reception area of the clinic. The creative will be used to boast the grand opening of the revolutionary Baylor Scott & White treatment and research center.

NASCAR Awards
We’ve had our eye on the 360 cam technology for a few years and decided the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Awards in Las Vegas was the time to make it happen. We were introduced to Big Freeze less than three weeks before our event and they made magic happen. Patrice, Robert and the entire Big Freeze team were terrific to work with. We utilized the system twofold – – both as an extension of the Red Carpet prior to the Monster Energy Series Awards and then post awards as the Monster Energy Series Awards post party. Red Carpet wise, we integrated our Digital and Social teams to distribute the unique and glamorous content externally while also showcasing the content inside the venue. At the post party, the 360 cam was a massive hit and took the guest experience to another level. There was a non-stop line all night and countless smiles and memories made. Since the awards last fall, we’ve utilized the Big Freeze at Daytona 500 Media Day and have plans for an encore appearance later this year at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Awards.” - Cory Posocco, Vice President, NASCAR Events

The kings and queens of country music, including Little Big Town, Midland, Kelsea Ballerini, Pink and more, enthusiastically made their way right into The Big Freeze, where they twirled, jumped and do-si-doed as we captured their every moment in stunning 360° frozen motion. The custom-designed and built signature 15-foot Big Freeze array contained 48 cameras to flatter every brilliant detail on each glamorous guest. The system effects were thoughtfully timed to ensure that the sets branding was highlighted in each and every frame. Working with premier entertainment marketing agency FlyteVu, the system was draped with lux crystals and bohemian hanging flower panels to set the scene for the A-list guests and their elaborate couture and cowboy hats to shine. Easy and instant access to the captures with our functional social media sharing options enabled celebrities, such as Rascal Flatts, and their guests to share their experience with their fans, continuing the buzz of the event long after the show wraps.

Celebrities, designers, fashionistas and socialites flock to New York City to catch as many events as they can, which are trickled far and wide across the city. Located within The Oculus, a shopping destination in The World Trade Center and an architectural vision, the TOMMYLAND pop-up was erected in the center of the action, and would not have been complete without a custom-designed and built Big Freeze 360° camera array system.
The system was a 12-foot, 24-camera array, with full walls surrounding the action. The walls were splashed with graphics of a vibrant West coast sunset inside, and the spellbinding Gigi Hadid on the outside. The booth graphics and props mirrored the dreamy Americana vibes of the fashion line, creating a cohesive experience deep in the heart of the collaboration’s vision. Four eye-candy monitors encircled the array, showing footage from Hilfiger fashion shows, and further immersing the visitors in the brand’s culture and aesthetic. NHL Playoffs
It is the most-travelled championship trophy in the world and The Big Freeze was there fluently capturing powered flight around the cup on a sheet of ice! Among the traditions (or rather superstitions) that are prevalent among today’s NHL players, is that no player should touch the Cup itself until his team has rightfully won the Cup. We brought this legend to the screen, capturing desire for the cup, in frozen action around it! Our technology renders the power and curvature of these magnificent athletes into ballerina grace around the much sought after Stanley Cup before the finals. After many successful NHL shoots, we have become skillful artisans, using our Big Freeze cameras and computers on the ice. Monitoring moisture and frigid temperatures, selecting the correct lens and frames, Big Freeze captures that perfect special effect to share with Hockey Fans worldwide.

Nissan NISMO
On a gray, rainy day in Austin, 72 Big Freeze cameras are set on an arc, and low on the Race Track. It’s a dramatic, captured effect, ramping down the speed of spinning tires and disclosing clouds of rain, hanging frozen in time.
Nissan’s newest Race car, the GT-R LM NIZMO LM P1 was the hero of this production. When this race car accelerates, the engine transfers force to the tires, pushing backward against the track. When track and tire force push against each other, the lighter object moves faster and faster.
To slow it down, Big Freeze used it’s unique techniques and advanced software technology to capture Newton’s Laws of Motion on this Formula 1 track. Time flies when you are having fun!

Canadian Olympics
Canada’s finest deserve the best. So when we were shipped off to Toronto to photograph top athletes from Canada’s Olympic Team we knew we were in for something big. CBC (Canada Broadcasting Corporation) came to us with a vision to inspire viewers and rally Canadians for the amazing talent they were bringing to the coming Olympic Games. So we created a powerful stage to instill Canadian pride for these exceptional sportsmen (and women). We suspended huge light rigs from above, rigged up a dark enclosed backdrop and lowered our cameras to the floor to convey the incredible power and stature that comes with being a world-class athlete. Additionally we employed virtual camera and frozen motion as we dropped snow while they waved flags and posed triumphantly. The result was a dramatic, statuesque delivery of Canada’s most athletic, inspiring for both Canadian and Non-Canadian alike.

With red-carpet effects like this, and show-stopping numbers from the likes of Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and more; E! Entertainment and the GlamCam360 put on a show that would leave your head spinning.

Holiday Party
On the weekend of December 7 we were invited to take part in a huge holiday party. This company really made an effort to celebrate their employees and the holidays this year by throwing a party complete with carnival games, a motorcycle cage, and a Santa-sized Sleigh full of attractions and spectacles you could only dream of. All this and of course our own High-Tech Big Freeze Array to top off what turned out to be a truly incredible holiday party.
For hours we catered to hundreds of excited guests clamoring for their turn to make their experience last a lifetime as a perfect 360° portrait. Meanwhile the very talented Electric Circus and the infamous ZZ Top played back-to-back mind-blowing performances leaving us with a gallery full of only very happy party-goers.
With a completely customized web-skin, our guests could instantly view their capture on their smart-phones and then post, tweet, and send it to all their friends and family at their leisure. Who knows, maybe we even saved them the trouble of finding a Christmas card!
It’s no exaggeration; check out some of the incredible captures we took and just try to find anyone that wasn’t having the time of their lives.

Hyundai: PYL
Hyundai’s new line of hatchback:the PYL is all about standing out. With vivid and unique colors, loud and powerful speakers, and a unique body design Hyundai strives for a clientele that strives to be different. So when Hyundai decided they wanted to create a commercial as unique as their PYL they reached out to us.
For our expertise, Hyundai asked us to create high-energy ‘Virtual Dolly’ and ‘Frozen Motion’ set-ups to be stitched in to a final high-energy commercial to really capture the stunning range of color and personality in their latest line of PYL model hatchback.
Needless to say capturing a moving car amongst falling raindrops in perfect clarity is no easy task. Thankfully we were fortunate enough to work with a solid team that understands the importance of meticulous planning. We drew out every shot, measured out every detail and prepared during frequent tech scouts to ensure we would be completely ready for the incredible challenge ahead of us.
Our set was on a windy coastal road wrapped around Point Loma in San Diego, CA. It was a beautiful view and a dream location but just like any other shoot, we faced our share of problems. Last minute changes are bound to happen and sudden heat waves always catch you off guard, but as always we took to the occasion and accomplished something amazing. Just like a Hyundai we love to stand out and we perform best when we are driven.

Famous Footwear
Famous Footwear is about making a statement; it’s about having the freedom to be a dancer, a performer, and a student all at once. So when one of the most dynamic shoe companies in the world wanted to capture the excitement of youth with equally exciting and high-energy footage, we jumped at the assignment.
The goal of their Back-to school spot (Called ‘Make Today Famous,’) was to show kids that no matter how incredible their lifestyle is, “we’ve got shoes to keep up”. So we set out to find incredible performers in music, dance, cheerleading, and BMX to show off and then captured amazing moments at the peak of their performances. The final product was a gripping TV spot full of powerful virtual camera moves, electrifying frozen leaps, water spouts and cascading playing cards, all with the effort of making every moment as exciting, unique, and enjoyable as a Famous Footwear experience.

GlamCam 360
E! Entertainment and their infamous Red Carpet Shows have really been a cherished relationship for us at The Big Freeze. For years we’ve branded the 20’ Big Freeze array as the “Glam Cam 360” on the red carpet to shoot beautiful Hollywood celebrities posing in their finest.
Since 2009 we’ve set up directly on the red carpet to eventually shoot hundreds of Hollywood’s most glamorous over these incredible years. During the show we feed instant files for live broadcast and simultaneously build an online gallery of 360 images for E! Online. The result is an exciting compilation of celebrities in perfect form and perfect clarity.
Our yearly visit to this award show, along with the Grammys and Golden Globe Awards, is it’s own reward. We’re looking forward to many more years attending this show and being a continuing part of LA’s most glamorous celebrations.
But don’t ask us: check out testimony of how our guests feel about the illustrious GlamCam360!

Krump & Ballet
Dance is one of the most powerful art forms out there. So when Visionary director Ryan Enn Hughes from Canada approached us with a unique idea to employ a 48-camera array to capture premier ballet dancers and incredible Krump style dancers in frozen 360 we couldn’t resist. So we gleefully shipped off to Toronto Canada to begin work on what is now called ‘The 360 Project.’
We called on performers from Canada’s exceptional National Ballet School and on members of the incredible Northbuck Krump for some of the most talented dancers in their fields and then assembled 4 large walls of black velvet and shot with synchronized overhead photographic strobe lights for a uniquely dramatic tone and strikingly vivid colors. This added an elegant touch to the final product and highlighted the power that comes with seeing every angle of a dancer frozen in time.
The result was two videos (1 for each style of dance) cut to music and sound effects from the very talented Zelig Sound to create a heart pumping portrait of performers vanishing and appearing like souls on a turntable. The project has since been awarded the title of Vimeo Staff Pick and has found a very proud home in our reel.

Xerox
Xerox has always been a powerful name in imaging and technology. So when we were approached to take part in a series of promotions with the powerhouse print company, the only question we had was why hadn’t we done this before?
On our first leg of the Xerox tour, we took to Toronto to invite attendees and athletes of The Rogers Cup to jump around and enjoy our Big Freeze experience. It was a huge project with tons of friendly and exciting faces including Francesca Schiavone, who went on to take second place!
After that we set off for Rochester New York where every year in June the streets erupt in the soulful energy of Jazz and improvised celebration for the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. We photographed many wonderful jazz guests as they enjoyed props and instruments inspired by the festival itself. It was an incredible 10 day event and a fantastic opportunity to show off what innovators in image technology can do when they put their heads together.

Toyota: Like You've Never Seen It
When we got an offer to come shoot in Canada with Toyota we had no idea the scale they were dreaming this project to be. It was truly something we had ‘never seen before’.
What they had in mind for this commercial was the grandest scale of camerawork the industry had available. This spot was all about ‘seeing’; from remote controlled race-cars to helicopters, parachutes, high speed rail cameras and even a GoPro mounted turtle, Toyota pulled all the stops on this production and in the end we collaborated to create an amazing commercial full of all the incredible behind the scenes filmmaking and technologies most people don’t normally get to see.
For our end of it we erected a rain tower and a horizontal line of Freeze cameras and created a frozen track shot as this incredible car burst through halted raindrops. See it for yourself, and ask yourself if you’ve ever seen anything quite like it before.

E! Online Upfront Party
E, as it’s name implies, is entertainment, and over the years as the GlamCam 360, we’ve really enjoyed entertaining the celebrities. And so, for E!’s upfront party, we leapt at the opportunity to bring the Hollywood red carpet lifestyle out to Manhattan.
We arrived in New York for a one day shoot at the mesmerizing Manhattan Center.
E’s intent with this party was to attract interest in their upcoming lineup of shows and media and we came along to bring some energy. And although we did see some very exciting faces (Such as Kim Kardashian, Kevin Jonas, and members of the band The Wanted) we were really there to make this one-of-a-kind celebrity experience available to fans who normally don’t get to be in front of the GlamCam.
This meant a very different type of experience from our normal red carpet set-up. More props, hops, twirls and spins; overall less a formal award show gathering and a more an exciting experience for everyone who stopped by.
The result was a very entertaining evening for the guests and new incentive and mobility for E! and their coming line-up of shows.

Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards
The Kids Choice Awards is not a typical award show. With guests like Adam Sandler, Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock and Katy Perry present, it’s got all the excitement of a Red Carpet affair, but with the energy and heartful humor of youth. That said when Nickelodeon came to us with the idea to take their infamous ‘Sliming’ where they dump buckets of green slime on people (Always gives the kids a giggle) to the next level we had no idea what to expect. But needless to say: we were happy to oblige.
We assembled our 48 camera rig and sailed the entire array to the ceiling and then tucked our entire crew into the catwalk above the stage. Then we mounted the array on a raising and lowering apparatus to grab stunning 360’s from the audience and the actors getting completely doused in slimey hilarious muck.
And after all it turned out that watching America’s most glamorous being showered in ooze in pristine 360 was just as exciting for us as it was for the millions of screaming fans watching. The images came out amazing and the reactions were priceless, which got us thinking: maybe we’ll have to give this slime thing a try on our own shoots in the future.

NBA Playermetrics
When your drafting for the most incredible athletes in the world, the devil’s in the details. In the hyper-competitive selection process, the goal is drafting a player that’s close to flawless. The last thing this industry needs is to miss out on a star because they didn’t have access to the most thorough and picturesque photographic imaging equipment available.
For our friends coordinating the NBA draft we set up at the JW Marriot in Chicago to develop the most comprehensive, advanced, and just honestly cool Draft Player Statistics System developed to date, aptly titled: Playermetrics.
For it we took captures from head to two of NCAA’s finest to offer thorough coverage of each player’s powerful physique and form to deliver an incredibly futuristic way to compare these players. Using both virtual motion to showcase their incredible athletic talents, and pure captures to offer a clean portrait of the athletes physique and stature, The Big Freeze and The NBA Draft collaborated to create the most detailed and otherwise divine presentation of the NBA to date.

Macallan SXSW Boat Party
During South by Southwest Fest (SXSW) it’s hard to stand out. 3 weeks of music, movies, and shows all stocked to the top with free food and drinks and spread across the incredible city of Austin, Texas makes even the most exciting events look dull. Macallan, the cut-loose drink of business class, solved that problem by renting a boat, packing it full of Macallan’s finest single malt whiskies, and hiring us to capture it all.
Macallan called us out to Austin to excite a crowd of young energetic tech and artist visitors and to show them the incredible levels you can push photography to when you use your imagination.
Thankfully we grew our sea legs pretty quickly because for 5 days we trolled up and down Lady Bird Lake shooting day and night. We ended up with some very exciting photos and left some very happy SXSW guests. Between Macallan and The Big Freeze Worldwide it was clear we left an impression at SXSW our guests would never forget.
